Drum Table | Add A Decorators Touch to Any Drum Table

Just when you thought home decorating furniture styles couldn’t get any more unique, industry trends are leaning toward something amazing. That is, furniture that acts simultaneously as an instrument. While the style isn’t yet topping the covers of interior decorating magazines, furniture such as a drum table are becoming hip among more creative, rugged crowds who are tending their interests toward traditional Native American themes. The drum table, which has a hole in the bottom to aid the sound along with curved, wooden legs, was inspired by Native American slaves who disguised their forbidden instruments in the form of furniture.

There are several ways to add a decorator’s touch to drum tables online:
Rug or floor mat: A rug or floor mat that fits in with the traditional Native American western style is a great way to draw attention to your specially handcrafted drum and table. Stripes of western colors such as burnt oranges, teals, and blues is a popular rug pattern that generally looks great when placed up against wood. The floor mat can either go underneath the table itself or on the floor in front of the piece of furniture. Both arrangements are sure to add the appropriate western flair to your living room or den.

Native American Artifacts: See if you can scope out some unique Native American artifacts to either rest on top of your table and instrument or mount on the wall behind it. You may need to do some extensive online shopping to find the perfect accessory to match your taste and particular piece of furniture but it would be worth it to create a perfectly themed atmosphere in your home. Some Native American items that may be easier to find than others are a dream catcher, hanging pair of moccasins, or feathers.
Painting: Consider mounting a painting on the wall behind the instrument and table. Photographs or pictures that fit in with the rustic Indian theme particularly well include desert scenes, western inspired patterns and designs, Native Americans posing with horses and their traditional headdresses, or pictures of the American eagle, hawk or other native bird.

Ink drawing: This option is one you probably need to prepare for prior to the delivery of your table and drum because unless you are an exceptional artist, you probably do not want to do it yourself. But consider the idea of an ink drawing or painting on the surface of the table and drum. The outline of an Indian Chief in his headdress, or a bird, or even a collage within an earthly circle right in the center of the table top would really add a cozy feel to the already warm atmosphere created in your home from the wooden table. Shop around for a decent artist who offers the best price, though, as one of a kind work could get expensive.

Lamps: Depending on the style and design of your wooden piece of instrument furniture, you might select a complimentary lamp or two to rest in the middle or on either end of the traditional piece. Lamps with fairly dark shades work best for this type of rustic environment as they are high in opacity and therefore low in light, leaving the atmosphere warm and familial.
